William "Bill" Henderson, 70, passed away on April 26, 2017 in Roseville, Michigan. Bill was born on July 6, 1946 in Akron, Ohio, to the late Virginia and Walter Henderson. He was a 1964 graduate of Garfield High School, where he ran track on a winning relay team. He enjoyed singing excerpts from Handel's "Messiah" while in his junior high school choir.

Bill graduated cum laude from Kent State University, also attending Ohio State University and the University of Akron; he pursued psychology and accounting degrees. While in Akron, Bill attended the Firestone Park Presbyterian Church with his family. After graduation, Bill was employed by the Department of Defense (Army) in St. Louis, where he received an award for exemplary contributions during his employment there. He later transferred to the DOD in Detroit and retired after many years' of service.

Bill was a hard worker who loved his country. He supported his in-depth beliefs with scholarly research. He will be dearly missed by family and friends for his kindness. He was always willing to help, whether it be with a bookcase, forms, or a math concept. He pitched in with the lawn mowing, snow shoveling, pet care, even driver training with family members. Bill was an intelligent, sensitive person who liked literature, politics, and musical genres from classical to pop. He will be mourned. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; he leaves behind sisters, Jane Kanios and Ruth (Lou) Narotski; brother, James (Connie) Henderson and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Firestone Park Presbyterian Church, 275 S. Firestone Blvd, Akron , Ohio 44301 with Pastor Francie Fischer officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service time. Private inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. For those that wish, memorial contributions can be made to the church.
