Mary L. Wilkerson, 83, of Akron went home to be with the Lord, January 6, 2018. A life resident of the area, Mary was born on July 20,1934 to the late Cornelius and Minnie Gabriel.

 

She was a lifetime member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she was an organist, sang in the choir, played the piano and the flute. She was a long time volunteer for Summit Metro Parks, she was part of the New  Horizon Band and the Metro Parks Ensemble. She was a graduate of South High School and graduated from the University of Akron with an Associates Degree in Business. Most importantly she was a wife, homemaker and a Mom.

 

Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill; half-brother Joseph and his wife, Marion; half-sister, Bernadette, she leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Bill; sons,

Mark (Marcella), Paul (Jean), John (Roberta), David (Danielle); brothers, Bill Gabriel, Richard (Barbara); four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 724 Sumner St, Akron, Ohio 44311 with Rev. Robert Tauscher Jr. officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to service time. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. For those that wish, memorial contributions can be made to the Concordia Lutheran
