Audrey M. (Miller) Simon, 86, passed peacefully on March 7, 2026 after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 14, 1939 to Laverne and Gladys Miller. Audrey is preceded in death by her mom and dad; her sister and best friend, June (Miller) Makar; her husband, Clyde Simon; her daughter, Audrey (Dolly) Simon, and brother-in-law, Bob Makar.

Audrey is survived by life partner, Dwain (Buck) Byers; brother Dall Miller; son, Clyde (Wanda) Simon, Jr.; daughter, Debra Simon, grandchildren,, Jeremy (Stacey) Simon, Michelle (Simon) Ghaster ,Shawn Milici, Brian Milici, and Nick Milici, and Christopher (Stacey) Haskins; along with nephews, niece, many great grandchildren and great nieces, nephews and friends, and family fur-babies who loved her dearly.

Audrey was the epitome of the loving matriarch of the family. She was kind, generous and had a silly sense of humor on occasion. She had a radiant smile which warmed those around her. Rarely did she spend time with anyone, family, friends and strangers, where she didn’t say “bless your heart” meaningfully to ensure everyone felt loved and appreciated. Audrey worked as a baker for a short while, but did most of her baking for family and friends for most of her life. She taught herself to create beautifully decorated cakes and other treats to the delight of everyone around her. She was also a great cook, liked to garden and loved her flower beds. Audrey was also quite the homesteader, freezing fruits and vegetables to enjoy in the off season. She was a member of the American Legion, where she made many friends, volunteered, and served her culinary treats for multiple events and fund raisers. She loved to sing and was blessed with a beautiful voice. To this day we can hear her singing to Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, and Englebert Humperdinck.

She was happiest when she was spending time with her grandkids. Jeremy’s birth made her a first-time, very young grandma, and she relished their extraordinarily close relationship to the very end. Audrey was fortunate to travel with her family as a child seeing most of the US the old-fashioned way by car. She loved and rode horses throughout her childhood and didn’t meet a dog she didn’t adore. She is a breast cancer survivor, and lived valiantly for years with her debilitating Alzheimer’s disease. She will be missed by so many who loved her deeply, who are grateful she’s now at peace and with her loved ones who left before her.

Her wishes were to have a private send-off and for everyone to remember her with a smile, a laugh and a “bless your heart” to anyone sad and hurting.

The family would also like to send a special Thank You to those who cared for Audrey in the Memory Care unit at Heritage of Hudson, and most recently the exemplary care she received from Summa Hospital’s Hospice Unit. Tammy and Don, we owe you and the rest of your amazing team our deepest gratitude for the loving, gentle care you provided. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association (Greater East Ohio) or Hospice-directed funds to The Summa Foundation.
