Charles J. Brown, 90, passed away Monday, June 22, 2026, in Akron, Ohio.

Born on July 5, 1935, in Akron, Ohio, to Barbara Anne Brown, (nee. Reich) and John W. Brown, Charles spent the majority of his life in Akron, Ohio. Charles graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in advertising and worked for a major advertising firm in Cleveland, Ohio. He served in the U.S. military stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico as a Military Police officer. Throughout his life, through his study of the Bible and exemplary good works, Charles nurtured and sustained his deep, abiding faith and love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At the close of a life of dedicated practice of the pillars of his faith: discipleship, fellowship, service, forgiveness, worship, prayer and love, Charles proclaimed his deep faith and joyful desire to realize his lifelong goal, beginning his life in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Anne Brown (nee Reich), father, John W. Brown; brothers, Albert Gene Brown, Richard Brown, and caring best friend of 60 years, Nanci Trippett. He is survived by his special nephew and niece, David Brown and Desiree Brown; his faith community at Community Church of Portage Lakes and numerous family members and friends, all of whom were very important to Charles and by whom he will be missed.

Charles will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with public ceremonies to be held at 9:15 a.m. on July 2, 2026. Those planning to attend should arrive on or before 9:00 a.m.
