James Edward Lowe, 82, of Akron went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday March 18, 2026. He was born April 23, 1943 in Akron, Ohio to the late John and Sarah (Sothen) Lowe.
He was a veteran of the United States Marines, graduated from the Millersburg Military Institute with a bachelor’s degree and worked as a linesman at AT&T (Ohio Bell). James was a past Master Mason for Victory Lodge #649 F&AM where he was a fifty year member. He was also a fifty year member of the Tadmor Shrine where he spent twenty years as a driver for the Tri County Hospital Transportation for children. He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for the Valley of Akron for fifty one years and was also involved with the Kenmore Chamber of Commerce, James E Lowe Realty Company and a member of the Chapel on Fir Hill. In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Foster parents Jerry and Kieth Swan, daughter Kelley Bunts; brothers, Robert and John. He is survived by his niece, Billie Jo Mace; sisters, Rebecca Lowe, Jackie Sipes, Judi McHenry, Maddi Sims, Lillian Graves and Jennie Loveless; stepsister, Nancy Wakefield; brother, O’Clare Lowe and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday April 6, 2026 at the Schlup-Pucak & Wilson Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 by Victory Lodge #649. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday April 7, 2026 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Johnson officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors.
