Leon D. Lowden Jr.

Leon Delford Lowden Jr., 75, formerly of Kenmore, a neighborhood of Akron, Ohio, and later of North Canton, passed away peacefully at his home in Canton, Ohio, on July 14, 2026. He was born on August 7, 1950, in Akron, Ohio to the late Leon Delford Lowden Sr. and Betty Lowden. 

He graduated from Kenmore High School and went on to build a successful 36-year career as an Experimental Tire Builder with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Akron. Leon also proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of First Sergeant (E-7). Leon will be remembered for his generous heart, his dry and quirky sense of humor, and his remarkable ability to find a great bargain. He enjoyed "wheeling and dealing" and always seemed to know how to stretch a dollar while bringing a smile to those around him. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends will be deeply missed. 

Leon is survived by his sons; Leon Delford Lowden III and his wife, Destiny Lowden, and Samuel Wease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Delford Lowden Sr. and Betty Lowden, and his sister, Betty Jo.

Family and friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the Schlup-Pucak & Wilson Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd., Akron, OH 44314. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Dywane Ray officiating. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44333, where Leon will be laid to rest. Family and friends are welcome to attend all services.
