Melanie M. Coffy

Melanie M. Coffy, 46, Akron, Ohio passed away on July 11, 2026 at Summa Health Sysyem Akron surrounded by her loving family. Melanie was born on September 27, 1979 in Massillon, Ohio to the late Terry Gehring and Gwendolyn (Gehring) Brannan. She graduated from Washington High School in Massillon, Ohio.

Melanie worked as a daycare teacher for six years where she was adored by the children and families she served. Melanie enjoyed spending time with her family. She was always happy, kind and gentle. Melanie was a loving wife to her husband, John. She was a loving mother, to her daughter, Ann; son, John Jr , loving daughter to her mother, Gwen , a loving sister to her brother, Doug Gehring and a loving sister in-law to his fiance, Tammy Ross and to her brother, Tom Gehring. She was also a loving sister in-law to Amy and Brent Blosfield , and to Tricia and Tom Coffy. She was a loving aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, a loving grandma to soon to be baby John. 

Melanie is survived by husband, John Coffy; daughter, Ann Coffy; son, John Coffy Jr.; mother, Gwendolyn Brannan; brother, Doug and his fiance, Tammy Ross and brother, Tom Gehring; aunt and uncle , Janey and Todd Gehring; brother and sister in-laws, Tricia and Tom Coffy and Amy and Brent Blosfield. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Melanie was preceded in death by her father, Terry Gehring; father in-law and mother in-law Jack A. and Sharon Coffy; grandmother, Elanie Swift; uncle, Laverne Griffin. 

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m Saturday, July 18th, 2026 at the Schlup-Pucak & Wilson Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m at the Funeral Home with Pastor Dwayne Ray officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
