Paul J Carillon Sr.

April 27, 1943 — August 22, 2025

Paul Jackson “Jack” Carillon, Sr., 82, of Akron, made his final reservation for Heaven, exchanging this life for his heavenly home, on August 22, 2025.

Born in Barberton on April 27, 1943, to the late Floyd Lee and Elizabeth Mary (Rufener) Carillon, Jack spent nearly his entire life in the same family home in Kenmore. He graduated from Kenmore High School in 1961 and built a career as a highly skilled paper-hanger and painter by trade.

On May 2, 1964, Jack married his beloved wife, Carol Jean (Szekely). Together they shared 53 wonderful years, being blessed with four children, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren to whom they devoted their hearts and lives.

A true “Jack of All Trades,” he could take on any project with determination. He loved aviation and flying the ultralight he built himself, working on projects around the house, and spending time with his children and grandchildren—always making sure to spoil his grandkids with his famous French toast. Whenever someone needed a hand, Jack was there without hesitation, always giving of himself, a truly selfless man who put others before his own needs. Jack and Carol, affectionately known to many as “Mr. and Mrs. C”, were known for opening their home to others, making it a place filled with love and laughter for countless family and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Elizabeth Carillon, and his cherished wife, Carol Jean (Szekely) Carillon.

He is survived by his greatest treasures—his four children: Paul Jackson, Jr. (Kim) of Beloit, Paula Jacqueline of Akron, Robert Steven (Tish) of Norton, and Michael Lee (Jenni) of Bellville; ten grandchildren he adored: Justin (Celeste), Andrew (Rachael), Brandon (Amanda), Shawn, Katelyn (Ryan), Michael (Katherine), Nicholas, Noah, Britney (Nate), and Milee; and six precious great-grandchildren: Memphis, Presley, Jameson, Anderson, Hallie, and Winnie. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Sheila Wheeler of Mt. Alto, WV, and Rita (Terry) Sappenfield of Akron, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, and his special dog, Max.

Jack leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
