Sally J. Wilson, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Green on August 21, 2026. She was born on November 12, 1930, the daughter of the late Duncan and Margaret (Peggy) Kelly McNiven of Youngstown.

Sally was a graduate of South High School in Youngstown. For five years, she was the bass drummer in The Heather Highlanders all girls marching band. They traveled to Canada every year to compete as well as many other states.

Sally’s life reflected faith, love of family and cherished friendships.

She worked at Republic Steel in Youngstown before moving to Akron in 1968. She later worked for several Moving & Storage and Storage companies before beginning her career with Ohio Edison, where she remained until her retirement in 2001.

She was a devoted member of Firestone Park Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully served as both a Deacon and Elder.

She volunteered her time at Firestone Park Elementary School and was actively involved in several community organizations and activities, including the Firestone Park Prime Timers and her monthly gatherings playing Bunko.

For more than 20 years, Sally flew to Arizona each year to spend time with her grandsons. A story she shared many times is how she remained undefeated against them in pool basketball. Sally enjoyed to travel, filling her passport with adventures and memories including cruises with her sister, relaxing beach trips, and fun-filled outings to casinos.

Along with her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jack, her sister, Margaret Valentine and her Sister-in-law Ruth Steele. She also endured the loss of many dear friends and loved ones over the years.

Sally leaves behind her son, Scott; daughter-in-law, Angel; grandsons, Bryan and Adam.

The family wishes to thank Better Together Hospice staff for their compassionate care and support during Sally’s final days.
