Sharon Kay Hornbeck (nee Hartmann) was born October 15, 1940, to her father, Melvin and beloved mother, Dorothy Irene (nee Dixon) in Oelwine, Iowa.

Growing up in middle Iowa, her favorite past time was fishing with her younger brother, Denny on the Wapsipinicon River and spending time with her sisters.

Sharon moved to Colorado in the early 1970s with her (then) husband, Bill and established her family unit. She divorced in 1980 and raised her two young children on her own. Life held many difficulties for Sharon but overcame them one by one and gave her life to the Lord amid them.

in 2015, she moved to Akron, Ohio with her daughter and granddaughter and enjoyed her retirement doing puzzles and spending entire weekends with her granddaughter. Although she was unable to truly form a bond with her other two remarkable grandchildren by her son, she did love them and spoke of them often.

Sharon began a rapid decline into Dementia, moved into Pleasant View Nursing Home and Rehab in Barberton, and spent the last month of her life happy, social, and eating all the food she could. It was so wonderful to watch her flourish with the help of the amazing staff there, and the staff that cared for her from Heartland Hospice.

Sharon is survived by her son, Brian, his girlfriend, Nichole and their children, Hayden, Rylie, Anthony and Olivia all from Colorado; daughter, Aileen and her boyfriend, Patrick and their children, Rachel of Ohio and Tristin of Georgia; sisters, Colleen and Collette of Iowa and her nieces, Lori (Mark), Jenny, Kim, Danielle (Scott); nephew, Paige and several grand nieces and nephews of Iowa.

Sharon is peaceful now. Thank you, mom. We love you. Until we meet again...

Per her request, cremation has taken place.
